Nos ha llegado la triste noticia de la pérdida del Obá Oriaté y agba’lagba, Jorge “el Papa” Morales, Ogún Lana. Nativo de Palmira, donde fue iniciado por Ramona Estenza, Efufulelé, Ogún Lana era uno de los pocos Oloshas de la vieja guardia que quedaban en Cuba que aun se mantenía firme en el respeto a las tradiciones antiguas que nos legaron nuestros progenitores lukumíes. Lamentablemente, ésta generación se reduce más y más, a pasos muy avanzados. Cada día que pasa, Ikú nos continúa robando a estos valiosísimos guardianes de nuestras tradiciones, dejando vacíos que de ninguna forma se podrán rellenar. Esperemos que sus descendientes sepan mantener el legado de los antiguos en honor a sus memorias. Le ofrecemos nuestro más sentido pésame a sus familiares y omorishas. Ibá é L’ayén t’orún Ogún Lana.

We have received the sad news of the loss of Obá Oriaté and agba’lagba, Jorge “el Papa” Morales, Ogún Lana. A native of Palmira, where he was ordained by Ramona Estenza, Efufulelé, Ogún Lana was one of the few remaining Cuban Oloshas from the old guard who continued to maintain and uphold the traditions handed down by our Lukumí progenitors. Unfortunately, this generation is diminishing at a very rapid stage. Each day that passes, Ikú robs us of these valuable keepers of our traditions, leaving great vacuums that are not easily filled. Let us hope that Ogún Lana’s descendants will keep the legacy of the ancient ones and pay proper homage to the memory. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and omorishas.
