Me entristece mucho tener que escribir este pésame. He perdido a una gran amiga y el mundo ha perdido a un gran ser humano. Falleció mi comadre Justina Jurado, Omí Yeyé, hoy 8 de enero en la ciudad de New York. Su pérdida dejará un gran vacío en la vida de todos nosotros a quien ella tocó de una forma u otra. Justica, como le llamábamos cariñosamente, tenía tantas calidades que es difícil comenzar a describirla. Fue una tremenda madre, una esposa ejemplar, y una amiga incondicional—de esas que ya hoy no existen. Como olosha, no pudo ser mejor ahijada, madrina, amiga, comadre. Personas como ella ya no nacen pues hace mucho tiempo que el cielo perdió ese molde.
Le extiendo mi más sincero pésame a sus seres queridos y omorishas. Sé que siempre la extrañaran ya que el vacío ocasionado por su muerte nunca podrá ser rellenado. Ibá é l’ayén’torún Omí Yeyé.

It is with great sadness that I write these condolences. I have lost a great friend and the world has lost a great human being. My comadre Justina Jurado, Omí Yeyé, passed away today, January 8th, in New York City. Her loss will leave a great void in the lives of all of us who were touched by her in one way or another. Justica, as we lovingly called her, had so many qualities that it is very difficult to know where to begin describing her. She was a tremendous mother, a devoted wife, and an unconditional friend—of the type that do not exist nowadays. As an olosha, she could not have been a better goddaughter, godmother, friend, comadre. People like her are no longer born because Heaven lost that mold a long time ago.
I offer my most heartfelt condolences to her loved ones and omorishas. I know all too well that they will miss her forever. The void that is left by her death will never be refilled. Ibá é l’ayén’torún Omí Yeyé.
